Glenda A. Franklin
Glenda A. Franklin, 90, of Carbondale, and formerly of Jonesboro, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at her granddaughter’s home.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1933 in Elco, the daughter of Claude Edgar and Bertha Florence Harvel Lingle.
She married Cecil Franklin on Aug. 3, 1978, in Grand Tower. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2012.
She enjoyed golfing, travelling and taking her family on vacation. She was a member of the Anna First Baptist Church for many years. She loved her friends and family, and spending time with her great-grandson, Cole, brought her so much joy.
She is survived by a son, Clyde “Rusty” (Marilyn) Arnold of Jonesboro; stepchildren Maury Lee Franklin of Mounds and Sherry Lee (Rick) Ellet of Carterville; granddaughter Kim (Scott) Swain of Carbondale; great-grandson Cole Swain; several step-grandchildren; son-in-law Lloyd “Red” Dunn of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Franklin; a daughter, Claudia Jane Dunn; and a grandchild, Carmen Dunn.
Graveside funeral services for Glenda Franklin were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Anna Cemetery. Interment immediately followed.
