Glenda L. Smith
Glenda L. Smith, 87, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
She was born on June 17, 1933, in Anna, a daughter of Howard and Florence Karraker Henderson.
She married Kenneth A. Smith on March 23, 1973. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2019, after nearly 47 years of marriage.
In her early years, she worked in the fitting room at Florsheim Shoes in Anna, but for nearly the last 50 years of her life, she was a proud homemaker.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Union Hill Christian Church. She was a lifetime member of the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 Auxiliary in Anna. She loved to cook and keep her home, but mostly she loved spending time with her beloved husband.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Jay) Manus of Anna, Kenny Smith of Pomona and JoElla (John) Basler of Anna; three grandchildren, Mike Manus, Emma (Mikey) Kelley and Elle Basler; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Kenneth; a son, Dan Corzine; three brothers, Homer Henderson, Harold Henderson and Jewel Henderson; and three sisters, Betty Wright, June Stokes and Juanita Rendleman.
Graveside funeral services were held at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro at noon on Monday, April 19.
The family asks that memorials be made to the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 Auxiliary.
