Glenda M. Davis

Glenda Mae Davis, 91, of Anna, died on Oct. 1, 2020.

She is survived by Jack and Connie Davis of Colorado, Randy Davis and Emily Chamness and Bryan and Rene Davis of Illinois.  She also has seven surviving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grand children and a special niece, Deloris Pribble.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Davis; daughter Debbie Jackson; daughter-in-law Donna Davis; grandson Matthew Davis; and all of her siblings.

She grew up in Union County.  She was the daughter of two school teachers, Rollie and Edith Treece (Anderson), being brought up on a small farm near the Casper Church near Anna.

She was a feisty woman with strong beliefs. She was always an advocate for the underdog (human and animal), a loving mom, wife, sister, auntie, grandma and friend.

She lived the last several years at the Illinois State Veterans Center in Anna, which became her home away from home.  The employees and residents became her adopted family and she became very close to all.  She will be remembered there for hanging out at the library, doing puzzles, wheel chairing around with a blue cup of coffee, reading every newspaper available, singing old country songs and playing bingo.

Up to the end she had her VA friends to include employees and residents in her thoughts especially Melissa who treated her like she was her grandmother.

She had a way about her which could touch your heart and leave you with a smile with her witty antidotes. As she often said, “I’m going home” and now she will be home in heaven joining her husband, daughter and her other family and friends.

There was a graveside service on Friday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Casper Church Cemetery, where she was laid to rest next to her husband.

Memorials can be made to the bingo fund at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna or the charity of the donor’s choice.
