Gordon Johnson

Gordon Johnson, 55, of Hickory, Ky., and formerly of Dongola, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.

He was born on Oct. 11, 1961, in Anna, the son of Walter Clayton and Betty Fields Johnson-Lingle.

He married Sheri Edwards on Feb. 9, 2008.

He was a truck driver for American Transportation Services. His CB handle was Knothead. He loved grilling out and having people over, taking his wife to Louisville truck show and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Dongola Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri Johnson of Hickory, Ky.; sons Tyler (Alaina Morrison) Johnson and Jeremiah (Lexi) Johnson of Jonesboro; stepdaughters Candice Healey of Christopher, Amber (Zach) Newberry of Jonesboro and Christian Holshouser of Anna; his mother-in-law, Roxie Edwards; grandchildren Laighton, Drake, Kendra, Lillian, Lakelyn, Peyton and Gracelynn; sisters Linda (John) Nicholson of Clinton, Joyce (Ken) Rowe of Dongola, and Sharon (Roger) Menees of Anna; stepbrothers Barry Lingle of Dongola, and Greg (Laura) Lingle of Leland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepdad, Doyle Lingle; a baby sister, Mary Lee; a nephew, Shannon Menees; and his grandparents.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Paul Sadler officiating. Interment was in Christian Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Dongola High School Band for band uniforms or to Christian Chapel Cemetery.
