Hazel Virginia Vaughn
Hazel Virginia Vaughn, 92, of Anna, Ill. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sept. 13, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
Hazel was born the third child of seven in Thebes, Ill. to Harry Bennett and Margaret Edmundson Bennett on Oct. 11, 1932.
She attended school in Tamms, Ill. She was a licensed realtor and co-owner of Carl's Furniture and Appliance along with her husband, Carl in Mounds, Ill. for 30 years.
She was united in marriage to Carl E. Vaughn on Feb. 17, 1950. To this union was born three children, Michael, Carla and Rhonda.
Hazel had a strong faith in Christ which guided her every step. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit and love for God's word, which she freely shared with countless people.
She was a wonderful example to all those who knew her. She left a legacy of love wherever she went. She attended First Baptist Church of Cobden, Ill. before moving to the Voyage Senior Living in Anna, where she participated in the bible study group and enjoyed singing in their community choir.
She is survived by her children, Michael E. Vaughn (Becky) of Bethalto, Ill., Carla J. Tally (Mike) of Anna, Ill. and Rhonda L. Tally of Fayetteville, Tenn.
Grandchildren, Amy Heflin (Brett), Marc Vaughn (Jessica), Jon Tally (Rachel), Dan Tally (Heather), Nicki Graham (Justin), Kristen Biggerstaff (Bronson) and Ryan Tally (Jessica). Great grandchildren, Zach Vaughn, Nic Vaughn, Tyler Vaughn, Lauren Vaughn, Kyleigh Heflin, Ian Heflin, Trent Heflin, Dawson Tally, Jake Tally, Dylan Ahlberg, Luke Tally, Jacob Graham, Logan Graham, and Madelyn Ahlberg. Great great grandchild, Semara Tally. Sister-in-law, Emma Dell Bennett, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry Bennett and Margaret Bennett Jordan, husband, Carl Vaughn, siblings, Mary Chester, Charles Bennett, Jack Bennett, Ella Tullock, June Plumb and JoAnn Benefield and son-in-law, Dicky Tally.
Visitation services will be at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m. Pastor Michael Vaughn will officiate.
Interment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill.
