Henry Grant Taylor
Henry Grant Taylor, 99, of Ullin, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1925, in Dongola, the son of John L. and Augusta Peeler Taylor.
He married the love of his life, June Brown, on May 29, 1947, and together they spent over 36 years together until her passing in December of 1983.
Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Army Air Force Post World War II in occupied Japan.
He had worked in the petroleum industry as a sales representative and farmed. He was a member of the local VFW and the First Lutheran Church of Dongola. He loved music and dancing.
He is survived by his son, Larry (Jerri) Taylor of Ullin; granddaughters Beth (Patrick) Dallas and Laura (Andrew) Zanowski; grandson Jason Crow; eight great-grandchildren, Tilman Dallas, Luke Dallas, J.J. Dallas, Carson Dallas, Ellie Zanowski, Charlotte Zanowski, Lacey Crow and Lauren Crow; special friend of 16 years, Wilma Bass; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and siblings Alemta Modglin, Lenora Knupp, Fae Smith and Glen Taylor.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at the First Lutheran Church of Dongola, with the Rev. Chere Riedel officiating.
Interment with full military honors followed the funeral service at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.
