James William Dillow
James William Dillow, 81, of Perryville, Mo., and formerly of Anna, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born on Feb. 22, 1943, in Union County, the son of James and Clyde Harris Dillow.
His mother and father died when James was a very small child. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Stella and Lloyd Harris.
He married Jackie Simms Wagoner on June 3, 1978, in Anna.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Dillow; daughters Lynn (Buddy) Hellman and Lea (Randy) Wright; grandchildren Dylan (Alanna) Hellman, Blake Hellman, Madison (Bradley) West and Jacob Wright; great-grandchildren Carter and Lenna Hellman; siblings Bill Dillow, Alma Osterholm and Ken (Carol) Dillow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son John Wagoner; and sisters Juanita Freeman, Mary Lou Lang and Betty Grant.
Mr. Dillow was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a lifelong resident of Union County, working as a contractor, building structures and homes throughout the county. He loved to work.
He was a very devoted Christian and family man. He cherished his family and loved spending time with them. He and Jackie greatly enjoyed camping and traveling.
Funeral services for James Dillow will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Pastor Nathan Ammon officiating.
Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard funeral honor team of Marion.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service time at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
