Janice ‘Mickey’ Tweedy Lewellyn
Janice “Mickey” Tweedy Lewellyn went to Beulah land on Nov. 5, 2020, with some of her family by her side.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1939, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Clarence Alton and Virgie Tweedy.
She married Darrel H. Alford on Aug. 22, 1955.
To this brief marriage, two sons were born, Timothy Darrel and Ronald Eugene.
Janice married James Buckley Sadler on June 19, 1962. He preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1964.
She married Lester Eugene Lewellyn on March 12, 1971. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1992.
To this union, Lester Darren was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her sister, Christine Bost; her sister, Bernadine Sadler; her sister, Betty Joann Bartruff; her twin brother, Richard (Dick) Tweedy; her son, Lester Darren Lewellyn; and a stepson John Lewellyn.
Survivors include sons Timothy Alford and wife Susan, Ronald Eugene Alford and wife Ingrid; daughter-in-law Mercedes Lewellyn; stepson Jack Lewellyn; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two brothers, Clarence (Bub) Tweedy and Michael Tweedy and his wife Bonnie; sister Carol Gordon; a special niece, Atonia (Toni) Koppen and her husband Jerry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also blessed and survived by her best friends Martha Arneson and Patsy Massey and many other dear friends and relatives.
She was a member of the Jonesboro United Methodist Church and a long-standing and Charter Lioness/Lion member of the South Elgin Lions Club, a Marion Lions Club member, a Red Hat Society member and a member of both the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering for Hospice.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the Jonesboro Cemetery. Interment will immediately follow.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. and until the service hour at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, at the cemetery. Those who attend are asked to please wear a face covering and to observe social distancing guidelines.
