John R. Hines

John R. Hines, age 81, of Anna, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 14, 1944 to Loren William and Olive Louise (Boyer) Hines in Anna, Ill.

John was graduate of the Anna-Jonesboro Class of 1962. He retired from Southern Illinois University after 28 years in Maintenance. 

He enjoyed to fish and loved music. He had a way of using his wit as a way of creating laughter among those around him. John was of Christian faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer (Richard) Kristoff; four granddaughters, Brandie (Josh) Boland, Rebecca Kristoff, Jamie Webb, and Ashley Webb; one grandson, Braxton Kristoff; three great-grandchildren, Connor Webb, Alaina Brown, and Owen Kristoff; one great great-grandson, Oliver Martin; sister, Debby (Ron) Kent; brother, Jim Hines; and sisters-in-law, Diane Hines (Jerry) and Dianne Hines (Bobby Joe); along with nieces, nephews and other relatives; and friend Mary Lou Powell.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hines; and brothers, Lennie G. “Jerry” Hines and Bobby Joe Hines.

No services will be held at this time.

The cremation of John R. Hines will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
