John R. Holman

John R. Holman, 77, of Tamms, and formerly of Cairo, died Sunday, March 17, 2024, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1946, in Charleston, Mo., the son of William Aubrey and Daughty Mae Goodman Holman. 

He married Donna Tolbert on July 14, 1966. She survives.

Mr. Holman retired as the Cairo Fire Chief after 30 years of service to the fire department.  He was a member of Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Holman; brother-in-law Edward (Lisa) Tolbert; sister-in-law Mary Lee Holman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Michelle Holman Hankins; brothers Charles and James Holman; a sister, Imogene Danford; and one nephew.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, March 22, at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo, with the Rev. Larry Potts officiating.  Inurnment will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Charleston, Mo.

Visitation will be Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center or to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
