Joyce Casper
Joyce Casper, 83, of Wadsworth, and formerly of Cobden, died on June 30, 2018, at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest.
She was born on May 11, 1935, in Cobden, the daughter of James Albert and Alma Leona Williams Patterson.
She married Franklin Casper on May 15, 1955. He preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2012.
She was a charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Grayslake. She also established the library and was the librarian at the church.
She was also a member of Cornerstone Community Church while living in Wadsworth and held the librarian position at Cornerstone.
She sang in a gospel trio called The 4 of Us. She was also employed as a surgical technician at Lake Forest Hospital for 30-plus years.
She had many passions and hobbies, including being a sign language interpreter, gardening, hand embroidery, quilting and made many quilts, painting and genealogy and was the family historian.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy (Don) Husko of Wauconda, Leia (Dan) Thomas of Wadsworth and Tracy (Travis) Primmer of Kenosha, Wis.; grandchildren Tarah, Jeremiah, Kirah, Kaylah, Jessica, Emily, Julia and Guy; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jane Patterson of Norcross, Ga., and Marilyn Patterson of Ladson, S.C.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Robert, Kirby, and Richard Patterson; and an infant sister, Julia Ann Patterson.
Funeral services for Joyce Casper will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Rev. Steve Farish officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Hall Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
