Karan Rose Wilson

Karan Rose Wilson, age 68, of Cairo, Ill., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Karan, a faithful Catholic, was born on Oct. 23, 1956, in San Diego, Calif., to William and Josephine Lenhart. 

She spent most of her childhood in Fall River, Mass. In Nov. 1988, she married James Wilson, who survives her at their home in Cairo.

Karan is also survived by her daughter, Rhiannon (Wilson) Shirley, and son-in-law, Randy Shirley of Sikeston, Mo.; her brother, Bill Lenhart of Naples, Fla.; along with numerous cousins, extended family, and friends. 

She will also be missed by her many beloved dogs and cats—rescued and cherished by her over the years. Karan had a special gift for caring for animals in need and never passed up the chance to provide a stray with love and a home.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held, and private arrangements are being made by her family.

Karan’s wish is for people to be kind and caring to all animals. In her memory, the family asks that friends honor her by caring for animals with the same love and generosity that she did throughout her life.
