Kimberly Ann Garner

Kimberly Ann Garner, 65, of Cairo, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born on May 30, 1958, in Cairo, the daughter of Duard and Sarah Lucille Lang Mohundro. 

She married Willie Garner Jr. on Feb. 11, 1975. They spent more than 48 years together. He survives.

She was a graduate of Camelot High School in Cairo. She had worked as a waitress at Chris’s Café and Nonny’s Restaurant, where she got to see and visit with her friends who stopped in. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crossword puzzles.

Along with her husband, Willie, she is survived by her sister, Dwanda Sullivan; many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and her fur baby, Matilda.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Patrick Garner; a brother, Duard Mohundro Jr.; and sisters Jill Kay Potts and Linda Sue Pool.

Cremation rites for Kimberly Ann Garner will be accorded. A Celebration of Life for Kimberly Ann Garner will be Saturday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m. at the residence of Kimberly and Willie Garner, 14737 Cook St., Cairo.

Memorials can be made to Barnes-Jewish Cancer Research. 

Crain Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
