Larry Dean Greer
Larry Dean Greer of Belknap died Friday, June 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his beloved Chow Chows, Cheyenne and Molly. These girls were the love of his life.
Larry remained single and dedicated his entire life to taking care of his parents and the family farm.
He was born in Belknap on May 12, 1959, the son of James W. and Vera Irene Story Greer.
He had a love for the outdoors and animals, which was brought out by his Native American heritage of which he was very proud.
He raised cattle and white-tailed deer on the farm. He retired from Laborers Local No. 773, which he had been a member of since 1984. This was seasonal work which fit perfectly into his lifestyle; it gave him the freedom to work on the farm and spend time enjoying the outdoors.
His main hobby was spending time in the Cache River swamp and forest, where he taught his nieces and nephews to shed hunt and about the habits and habitats of wild animals. He was also known to often go off by himself into the swamp for days to return and tell his parents of the happenings and adventures.
He was a man of his word. He would stand by that word no matter the circumstances. Honesty and Fairness were his standards.
Later in his life, he came to know God as his Father and Jesus as his Savior and Lord, which he would gladly share with you in conversation. He was very secure in his salvation and the promise to see all of his family again.
Larry is survived by his brother, Rodger Greer of Belknap; sister-in-law Peggy Greer of Belknap; several nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vera Greer; a brother, James “Jimmy” Greer; and a sister, Mary Ann Greer.
As per his wishes there will be no public service.
