Larry Edward Dirden

Larry Edward Dirden, 68, of Carbondale, formerly of Union County, died at 2:37 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Integrity Healthcare of Carbondale. 

He was born on Aug. 6, 1950, in Anna, the son of Jesse Edward and Mary Helen Harvel Dirden.  

He married Janice Crane. She preceded him in death in April 2010.

Mr. Dirden is survived by his daughter, Robin (Randy) Smith of Calvert City, Ky.; a son, Shannon Dirden of Granite City; grandchildren, Cody Boner, Jarrett Mull, Dylan Cano and Brianna Dirden; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester (Christine) Dirden of Jonesboro; other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Dirden; and three brothers, Lonnie Harvel, Ricky Dirden and Perry Dirden.

He worked as an LPN for many years at the Jackson County Nursing Home until his retirement.  

According to his wishes, he will be cremated and burial will be at a later date.
