Lois Janene Boone-Morefield

Lois Janene Boone-Morefield, 83, of Alto Pass, died on Jan. 3, 2023, at home, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1939, the daughter of Homer and Kathyrn Marks. 

She married  James Richard Boone on Oct. 30, 1959. He preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1995. She later married William Morefield on July 30, 2005, and he survives her. 

She was a homemaker for much of her life, being defined not as a business tycoon or celebrity but as a pillar of her community. 

Through her tireless work through the First Baptist Church of Alto Pass, she established herself as not just an upstanding and community oriented individual, but as one who truly gave her whole self in service of others. 

She defined herself as someone rich in love and faith-not simply as someone who held great wealth. Her characteristic wit and disarming charm made a friend of everyone she met. 

Her legacy will be defined by love, duty, faith, and above all the relentless belief that it will be better in the morning. 

She is survived by her husband, four children, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her brother, nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and her first husband. 

She was laid to rest on Jan. 6 in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
