Loren ‘Jim’ J. Rhodes
Loren “Jim” Rhodes, 88, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and formerly of Jonesboro, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at Deacons Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1929, in Beech Grove, the son of Loren and Fannie Land Rhodes.
He married Mary Rita Collins on June 24, 1951, in San Diego, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rhodes of Evansville, Ind.; a daughter, Cheryl (Stan) Hutchinson of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; one son, Thomas Loren (April) Rhodes of St. Louis; grandchildren Brieanna Hutchinson O’Connor, Brandon Hutchinson, Brittany Hutchinson, Lindsey Hale and Jennifer McQuary; great-grandchildren Olivia, Tori, Reece, Dawson, Larissa, Bryce, Maelee, Maia, Carter and Ava; sisters Wanda Bradford of Granite City and Annie Rhodes of Wolf Lake; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau for many years. He enjoyed fishing and doing home repairs. He worked for John Hancock Life Insurance Company as an office supervisor until his retirement.
Private family services for Loren “Jim” Rhodes were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, at the Jonesboro Cemetery. Interment was in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church, 2826 Independence St., Cape Girardeau, Mo., in care of Missionary Kevin Wynne.
