Marilyn E. Belcher

Marilyn E. Belcher, 96, of Coulterville, died at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1926, in New Bedford, Mass.,  a daughter of Lynwood and Mary Callahan Davis. 

On Dec. 26, 1946, she married Roy Belcher in New Bedford, Mass. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1995, after 49 years of marriage. 

She was a member of the Anna Methodist Church in Anna. 

Mrs. Belcher loved nursing and had worked as an RN for 58 years, including serving in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps and working at the Anna Rural Clinic. She enjoyed reading and knitting and loved traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her three sons, Dr. Terence (Patricia) Belcher of Bristol, R.I., Kevin (Margaret “Peggy”) Belcher of Springfield and Brian (Rhonda) Belcher of Coulterville; seven grandchildren, Kris Belcher, Kera Morris, Jessica Rinner, Becca Guyman, Kelly Williams, Sean Belcher and Brittany Mueller; two step-grandchildren, Craig Wade and Andrea Buchanan; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Lynne (Jan) MacLaughon and Janice (Bill) Knoerzer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Reid Belcher; a sister, Carol Siddell; and a niece, Marilyn Siddell.

Her wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the American Red Cross.
