Mary Elizabeth McRaven
Mary Elizabeth McRaven, 72, of rural Belknap, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at her home.
She was born on March 13, 1952, in Orange, Texas. She was the daughter of Jack and Florence Elizabeth Clarkson Phillips.
On Sept. 22, 1979, Mary was united in marriage to Don McRaven in Fallon, Nev. He survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her five children, Sandra Diane Choinski of De Soto, Amanda McRaven of Anna, Bettina (Zebulon) Bowles of Ozark, Angela Strong of Goreville and Anthony Shane McRaven of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also anticipating the upcoming birth of a great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Phillips.
She was employed for 14 years as the activities director at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna.
She enjoyed a number of activities and pastimes, including sewing, crafting and music. She also enjoyed the outdoors, horseback riding and camping. She cared for her beloved canine companions and especially loved “Abbie.”
She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church near Cypress.
Mary’s family will host a celebration of her life on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 555 Bethany Church Rd., Cypress. Pastor Jay Franklin and Chaplain Brent Easton will officiate.
Those attending the service are invited to gather at the church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
