Mary Sue Harvey
Mary Sue Harvey, 58, left this earthly life on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at her home in Brandon, Miss., surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1963, in Cairo, the daughter of Robert Ryan McAdoo and Marla Lingle McAdoo.
She graduated with honors from the Shawnee Community College with an associate of science in nursing and was a registered nurse.
Sue was a true public servant devoting her life and career to selflessly helping others.
Sue had worked in nursing in many capacities, from emergency care to long term care, where she held the title of director of nursing for many years, and most recently had worked at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
She was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord and served him faithfully. She was a true and proper lady in all aspects of her life, a Godly woman, incredibly strong and beautiful. She cherished and loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Although a humble lady, she was a prayer warrior always asking GOD to guide and lead her on the path he wanted her to be on.
She shared her faith with anyone she met and has left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace setting an example for her children, grandchildren and friends, that will lead them all their lives.
On Dec. 29, 2003, she married Lonnie J. Harvey, who survives at home in Brandon, Miss.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two sons, Derek (Derrick) Blume of Germantown, Tenn., and Thomas (Heather) Bridges of Gordonville, Mo.; one daughter Ashley Bridges of Anna; one stepdaughter, Amber (Stephen) Massey of Jackson, Miss.; two brothers, Jay (Tamarah) Jordan of Burlington, Ky., and Jimmy (Janey) McAdoo of Ullin; one sister Cathy (Ron) Spurlock of Lick Creek; five grandchildren, Brianna Brunner, Dawson Brunner, Isabelle Giron, Addilyn Stovall and Annistyn Bridges; and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her father and by one son, Dustin McAdoo.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison, Miss.
A second visitation held from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at United Missionary Baptist Church in Lick Creek, under the direction of Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston, Mo. Pastor Ken Wilson officiated.
Interment followed immediately in the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola.
