Nancy Muriel Gunn
Nancy Gunn, age 83, of Anna, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025 at home.
She was born July 1, 1942 to John G. and Ruby (Menees) Hubbs in Anna, Ill.
She was united in marriage to W. Leon Gunn on June 5, 1976. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 2024.
Nancy was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Anna where she was active in the Women’s Association, Women’s Ministries, Vacation Bible School and a Sunday School teacher.
She was also a member of Zeta Psi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Union County Hospital Auxiliary, life member of Stinson Memorial Library and P.A.S.T.
She was a 1960 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1964 and a Master of Science in 1968. She taught third grade at Lincoln Elementary School for twelve years. She then worked in the office at Helena Cotton Oil Company, Inc. in Helena, Ark.
She is survived by her cousin, Mary Ann Bowen; 8 nieces and nephews, Barbara Throgmorton, Jackie Moore, Jerry Gunn, Carol Eskew, Donna Washam, Michael Phegley, Meredith Ann Kraushar, and Karen Lucarelli; great and great great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Jack Hubbs, and grandparents, Orley and Leatha Menees and W.W. and Annie Belle Hubbs, and cousins, Bill Goddard, Ron Hubbs, Peggy Goddard Esmond, and Jack Goddard.
Visitation was on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro and on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Anna.
Funeral services for Nancy Muriel Gunn were on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Anna with interment to follow at Anna City Cemetery. Rev. Mark Kirk will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Anna, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
