Norman L. Barbeau

Norman L. Barbeau, 74, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. formerly of Alexander County, Ill. passed away peacefully at his home at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025.

Norman was born Aug. 25, 1951, in East St. Louis, Ill., son of the late Elmer Henry Barbeau and Alma Marie (Buckley) Barbeau.

He attended the Church of God Fellowship in Cape Girardeau, Mo. 

Norman enjoyed watching birds, planting flowers, playing with his dogs and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

He worked at the Tamms Sawmill in his earlier career followed by serving as a jailor for the Alexander County Sheriff's Department. 

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dennis, Thomas and Bill Barbeau.

On Sept. 30, 1972, in Belleville, Ill., he married Mary Jane Read, who survives of the home. He is also survived by his daughters, Sharman Henderson and Traci Palmer Dunn; sisters, Shirley Stoops, Linda Houser and Ruth Ann Cornett; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorial visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 15 at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
