Ora Josephine ‘Jody’ Stoner
Ora Josephine “Jody” Stoner, 83, of Herrin, died Friday, March 5, 2021, in Marion.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1937, in Steele, Mo., the daughter of Willie Clark and Martha Cordelia Parris Neal.
She married Bobby Stoner in 1964. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1993.
She grew up in Bakersfield, Calif., working in the fields. She was an avid reader, lover of coloring and a professional puzzler.
Most of all, she was a loving mother to her four children: Sheri Page, Terry Gifford, Douglas Stoner and Tom (Gayla) Stoner.
She was proud to be the grandmother of Cassie (Michael) Trammel, Josh (Randi) Stoner, Nathan (Alicia) Stoner, Emily (Josh) Alstat and Jimmy Page.
Her family will miss her dearly, but they will pass on many stories (especially about her adventurous life in California) to the five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and her daughter, Sheri LaDawn.
She was a Christian, attending Southern Baptist churches. She was a member of the Anna Eastern Star Chapter No. 522. She retired from Union County Hospital in Anna after many years of service.
Graveside funeral services for Ora Josephine “Jody” Stone were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the Anna Cemetery, with John Stanley officiating. Interment followed.
