Patrick Wilson Treece

Patrick Wilson Treece

Patrick Wilson Treece,  58, of Anna, died on Oct. 14, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., with his family by his side.

He was born on Sept. 19, 1966, in Anna, the son of Charles Edward Treece and Oma Mae Wilson Treece.

He married Sarah Ray on July 5, 1997.

Patrick was a graduate of the Anna-Jonesboro Community High School class of 1984. While attending A-JCHS he was a part of the football team that went to state. After high school, he attended Southeast Missouri State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Patrick received his commission in the United States Army, where he served 11 consecutive years, achieving the rank of captain and serving as company commander for the Illinois Army National Guard Unit in Carbondale.

Patrick began his career at the Union County Sheriff’s Department before moving on to work as a corrections officer and later as a food supervisor with the Illinois Department of Corrections. He dedicated 24 years to working in corrections before retiring, though he stayed active afterward by working as a substitute teacher for a short time.

Patrick had been fighting his battle with pancreatic cancer since 2022. He continued to live his life to the fullest and do the things that he loved, such as attending sporting events, hunting, golfing and spending time with his family.

One thing that he enjoyed more than anything was duck hunting with his friends and son at his hunting club. Along with duck hunting, he also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and taking trips to hunt more exotic variations.

Preceding him in death were his mom, Oma Mae Wilson Treece and his father, Charles Edward Treece.

Surviving Patrick are his wife, Sarah Treece; daughter Tobie Treece; son Trevor Treece; sister Candace Karraker of Carterville; brother Scott Treece (Laura) of Jonesboro; nieces Jackie (Zach) Plott of Anna and Myla Ray of Melbourne; nephews Nathan (Chelsea) Treece of Anna and Eric (Gina) Karraker of Carterville; great-nieces Calynn Plott, Kinsley Plott and Charlie Mae Treece of Anna; great-nephews Keller Treece of Anna, Alex Karraker and Chris Karraker of Carterville; father-in-law Phil (Rin) Ray; mother-in-law Katheleen O’Neal; brother-in-law Mark Ray of Melbourne; along with many other cousins, relatives and his beloved Labrador, Gabby.
