Pearl J. Harvell
Pearl J. Harvell, 97, of rural Carbondale, and formerly of Anna-Jonesboro, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at her home.
She was born on March 31, 1920, in Elco, the daughter of Ira James and Grace Ellen Shaffer Bridges.
She married Thomas Noble Harvell on Dec. 10, 1936, in Tamms. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1987.
She is survived by her children, Dale (Dorothy) Harvell of Jonesboro, Wilma “Jackie” Hoyle of Anna, Melvin (Clara) Harvell of Jonesboro and Kimberly (Curt) Guetersloh of Carbondale; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; lifelong friend Lesley “Buz” Prather; other relatives and many friends. She had a furry companion, Clemmie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Noble Harvell; a son, Norman Douglas Harvell; three brothers and four sisters.
She was a member of the Elco Baptist Church. She loved cooking and spending time with her family. Her family said her chicken and dumplings will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, May 1, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Randy Morgan officiating. Interment was in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
