Ray George Schluter

Ray George Schluter, age 88, of Dongola, Ill., passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025 at 2 a.m. in Marion, Ill.

He was born on June 9, 1937 in Dongola on the Schluter Farm to his parents Harold and Beulah George Schluter.

Ray was a Dairy Farmer that sold milk to Prairie Farms. He was the oldest (and still very active) member of the First Lutheran Church in Dongola.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Julia Rogers Schluter; children, Kathy (Jeff) Schluter McClellan and Donald (Sharon) Schluter; one brother, Bob (Sandra) Schluter of Cobden, Ill.; five grandsons and five great-grandchildren; along with other nieces, nephews, and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ludene Hargis Rice.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 20 with Rev. Cherie Riedel officiating at the First Lutheran Church in Dongola. 

Interment followed the service at the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola, Ill.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the First Lutheran Church in Dongola.
