Richard Donald “Don” Harris
Richard Donald “Don” Harris, 92, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, March 5, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born on March 10, 1932, in Houston, Texas, the son of James D. and Alta Sue (Johnson) Harris. He married Anita Mayberry on July 31, 1954.
Don is survived by his wife, Anita Harris; children, LaDona (Mike) Blue of East Alton, IL, Alan Harris of Central City, Ky. and Brian Harris of Gainesville, Ga.; grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Carter, Brandon (Trina) Blue, Ryan (Shontae) Harris, Tyler (Kayla) Harris, Brianna (Matt) Bedzyk, Danielle (Jay) Cosgrove and Derek Harris; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Daniel Staten, Patricia Graves and Jeannine Griffith; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Tammy Harris and brother, Gene Harris.
Don was a faithful member of Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle in Jonesboro. He was honored by the church for his long commitment as board member and Sunday school superintendent.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and collecting coins. Don was a hardworking man that truly enjoyed meeting and talking to people. He loved his family and spending time with them, often laughing until he literally fell out of his chair.
Funeral services for Don Harris will be held at 11a.m. Friday, March 14, at Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle, 505 W Mississippi St. in Jonesboro.
Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 13, at the church.
Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
