Ruby Britt
Ruby Britt, 94, of Cobden, and formerly of Mounds, died at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at Manor Court in Carbondale.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Alexander County, the daughter of Frank and Mary Randolph Aldred.
On Sept. 28, 1946, Ruby married the love of her life, William Earl Britt. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2015.
Mrs. Britt, or as some knew her, “Baby Hog,” was a wonderful homemaker. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
In her younger days she enjoyed singing on the radio. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mounds and later joined the Congregational Church in Alto Pass.
She is survived by her sons, Louis (Jeannie) Britt of Cobden and Jimmy (Nellie) Britt of Sparta; grandchildren Tammy (Larry), Gerald, Amy (Frank), Wally, Corey (Ebony) and April; 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Aldred of Cairo; sisters Marie Crite, Sue (Jack) Bolen and Bonnie Aldred, both of Marion, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Pearl Calvert of Charlotte, N.C.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Britt; and a sister, Ina Mae Aldred.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating.
