Shawn Gunn

Shawn Gunn, age 53, of Carbondale, formerly of Cobden, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born on April 3, 1972 to Terry and Judy (Basler) Gunn in Carbondale, Ill.

Shawn worked at Neuro Restorative in Carbondale since 2011. 

In his spare time, Shawn loved to watch football, play his gaming console, and loved going out to eat and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Austin Gunn, Cameron Gunn, and Cheyenne Trexler; grandchildren, Micah Vandergraph, Oakley Vandergraph, Caden Vandergraph, and Maverick Gunn; and one sister, Melissa Gunn.

Shawn is preceded in death by his parents.

No formal services will be held.

The cremation of Shawn Gunn will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
