Stanley Michael Pearson II

Stanley Michael Pearson II, 73, of Cobden, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at his home. 

He was born on Oct. 27, 1948, in Bay City, Mich., the son of Dr. Stanley Michael and Thelma Evelyn Rapps Pearson. 

He married Sheron McCoy on Dec. 11, 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Sheron Pearson of Cobden; a son, Michael Stanley (Erin Elizabeth) Pearson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Andrew) Hawkins of Cobden; grandchildren Brennan Connor Pearson, Elijah Drew Pearson, Mike Hawkins, AJ Hawkins and Gracie Hawkins; sisters Patricia Pearson of Bay City, Mich., Marcia Baker of Bay City, Mich., and Michelle Boyd of Fort Myers, Fla.; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Julie Taylor.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden. He loved music and played the organ and piano at the church for many years. 

He was on the board for the Union County Counseling Service for several years. He was a director of the respiratory therapy program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and for the last two years he worked in the PA program.  

A memorial Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden, with Father Uriel Salamanca and Deacon Pat Patterson officiating. Private interment was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Cobden. 

Memorials can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
