Susanna Hartline

Susanna Hartline, 85, of Alto Pass, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, at her home. 

She was born on Oct. 30, 1936, in Gary, Ind., the daughter of Frank and Wanda Weiloguerski Armenth. 

She married Raymond Hartline on Feb. 4, 1955, in Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2021. 

Mrs. Hartline is survived by her son, Russ (Mary Jo) Hartline of Alto Pass; three daughters, Rhonda (John) McGuire of Valparaiso, Ind., Roxanne (Delbert) Smallwood of Wheeler, Ind., and Rosiland Sedlacek of Murphysboro; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hartline; her parents; a granddaughter, Baby Smallwood; and a brother, Fred Armenth. 

Mrs. Hartline received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Indiana University. She went on to teach music in the Portage School system in Portage, In., for many years. 

She later worked for Tri-County Special Education for three years and substituted for all Union and Alexander county schools until her retirement in 2005. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna. 

She was a life member of Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was the past district president for Illinois District 15 and was past president for the Anna Auxiliary. 

Interment will be held privately in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.
