Tracy Dean Livesay
Tracy Dean Livesay, 66, of Anna, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at his home.
He was born on May 14, 1957, in Smyrna, Tenn., the son of James and Norma Treece Livesay.
Mr. Livesay is survived by his son, Christopher Dean Livesay of Danville; Christopher’s mother, Donna Tinsley; a brother, Jim (Kathy) Livesay of Jonesboro; a sister, Angie Faith (Steve) Sutherland of Anna; nieces and nephews Jacob (Sara) Livesay, Sarah (Mike) Alsip, Dr. Jeremy (Paige) Sutherland and Kae Sutherland; special friend Kyna Glasco-Travelstead; and he stayed in almost constant contact with his cousin, Mark (Jody) Livesay. He is also survived by other cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He loved his family and friends and had a true passion for entertaining others.
While attending Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, he excelled in academics, music and sports. While there, he set several high school sports records.
After graduation, he was offered scholarships to the University of Illinois for music, athletics and academics. Accepting the scholarships for academics and music, he attended U of I for one year before transferring to Southern Illinois University in order to be closer to home. He received his bachelor’s degree from SIU.
He was an accomplished musician with the ability to play many instruments, but was most well known for playing the trumpet. He performed with popular bands in many cities like Chicago, Nashville and New Orleans, just to name a few.
Locally, he often played for the Easter sunrise service at Bald Knob Cross. He was very proud of the many times he played Taps alongside the VFW, providing military honors at the funeral services of local veterans.
Besides music, he enjoyed other activities such as diving where he attained his Master Scuba Diver rating.
There will be a memorial gathering to honor the life of Tracy Livesay from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
