Violet J. “Dolly” Newberry

Violet J. “Dolly” Newberry, age 76, of Cobden, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Deaconess Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born on July 2, 1949 to Clinton and Ruth Ann (Choate) Boner in Murphysboro, Ill. On July 6, 1966, she married Roger Newberry.

Family was Dolly’s number 1 interest. She loved her home, her yard, she loved be outside, and she also love to bargain hunt. She was always proud of her husband and family. 

Dolly had worked at Dyno Nobel where she made many great friends.

Survivors include her husband, Roger, of nearly 60 years; daughter, Anita; two granddaughters, Lindsey and Bailey; one great-grandson, Lawson; one brother, Ray (Lynn) Bonner; brother-in-law, Herschell Meadows; along with many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Carl; and her several brothers and sisters.

A Private Family Inurnment will be held at Cobden Cemetery at a later date.

The cremation of Violet J. “Dolly” Newberry will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
