Walter Wayne Schultz
Walter Wayne Schultz, 79, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his family.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1945, in Wetaug, the son of Walter Owen and Carrie Ellen Goines Schultz.
He married Sandra Kay Mangum on May 26, 1972. Together, they raised two children, Ronald Wayne and Sara Ann.
Wayne worked diligently for 35 years as a truck driver for the Ready Mix to support his family. While on the job, he gained a solid reputation as a hardworking, honest, dependable and genuine Christian man. He was well liked and respected on every job site. This respect followed him for the rest of his life.
Wayne was a devoted member of the Lord’s church, worshipping faithfully at the Wetaug and Dongola congregations and later at the Anna congregation. While worshipping with the Anna congregation, Wayne faithfully served as an Elder, helping to guide the congregation in the Lord’s way.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Sandy; son Ron and his wife Susan; daughter Sara and her husband, Shane Jones; grandchildren Wyatt, Heidi, Emily and Ethan; brother Billy and wife Diana; sister Diane Forcht; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tommy and sister, Joann.
Graveside funeral services for Walter Wayne Schultz were at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Christian Chapel Cemetery in Dongola. Interment followed.
