Wanda Kay Jones
Wanda Kay Jones, 67, of Anna, died at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on June 9, 1956, in Clarksdale, Miss., the daughter of Dwight and Ida Modean Long Garrison.
She married Robert Joseph Jones Jr. on Aug. 23, 1978, and together they spent over 33 years together until his passing in 2012.
She worked at numerous hospitals in Southern Illinois as a lab technician. She loved to watch birds, but most especially loved watching hummingbirds. She was also a car euthusiast and loved going to car shows.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her son, Robert Jones III.; daughter Amanda Jones; granddaughter Jaden Thorson; grandson Matthew Hewitt; brothers Tony Garrison (Linda), Micheal Garrison (Rosemarie) and Gary Garrison; sisters Connie Clements (John) and Pam Hudgins; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Dwight Jones, and three brothers.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Randy Wheaton officiating. Interment followed in the Anna City Cemetery.
