Wayne N. Taylor, 60, of Murphysboro, died peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis at 5:21 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023. 

He was born in Neptune, N.J., where he spent the first 14 years of his life growing up alongside the sea, spending countless days at the beach with his family. 

He and his family later moved to Spring, Texas, where he resided until meeting his wife in 2001. 

He moved to Anna, and married Karen Davidson on July 20, 2002, and they spent 21 loving years together. 

He had many passions, including all things history, a love for politics and a love of the beach. He worked in retail management during his life. He was a one of a kind individual with a loving heart and dedication to his wife.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Karen Taylor of Murphysboro; daughter Anita Lucatero of Carbondale; grandchildren Kyler Washington, Kaitlyn and Kameron Zimmerman; special brother Jack Taylor of Florida; nephew Josh Matthews of New Jersey; great-nephew Julian Matthews; sister-in-law Joyce (Dewaine) Prater; and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Taylor was proceded in death by his father, John Taylor; his mother, Betty Taylor; a sister, Valerie Matthews, mother-in-law Afton Davidson and father-in-law Harry Davidson.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Mark Hasty officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral services in the Anna City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice.
