Proposed school reorganization defeated

A proposed reorganization involving four Union County school districts was defeated in Tuesday's primary election.

The proposed reorganization involved Lick Creek School District 16, Anna School District 37, Jonesboro School District 43 and Anna-Jonesboro Community High School District 81.

Unofficial results tallied at the Union County clerk's office in Jonesboro showed that the proposal lost by a margin of 2,522-624.

Results from the school districts follow:

Lick Creek: Yes, 42. No, 392. Anna: Yes, 434. No, 1,388. Jonesboro: Yes, 148. No, 742. (The three elementary districts all "feed" into A-JCHS District 81.)
