School board election filing underway this week

Filing started Monday, Dec. 13, for April 2011 board of education elections in Union County school districts.

Elections are scheduled next spring in all seven of the county's school districts.

Candidates can file nominating petitions for next year's election through Monday, Dec. 20.

Here's a look at who had filed as of Monday:

Lick Creek School District 16: Five positions are open on the board. Incumbent John A. Basler filed for reelection.

Cobden School District 17: Three positions are open on the board. Incumbent Tracie Moore filed, as did Lisa Tomazolli and Janet Childers.

Anna School District 37: Four positions are open on the board. Incumbent Jim Cross filed, as did Brandon Bierstedt.

Jonesboro School District 43: Three positions are open on the board. Incumbent Jonathan D. Vicenzi filed, as did Angela R. Bowen.

Dongola School District 66: Three positions are open on the board. Incumbent Philip Miller filed, as did Wayne Brown, Wesley Hinkle and Richard Micheal.

Anna-Jonesboro Community High School District 81: Four positions are open on the board. Shane Osman and Dr. B.J. Reach, both incumbents, filed for reelection. Also filing were John Hughey, Seth Plott and Tim Ritter.

Shawnee School District 84: Three positions are open on the board. As of Monday, no candidates had filed.
