Search for missing Cobden man ends on sad note

Raymond Baggott, 92, was found Wednesday morning, dead in a clover field located just northeast of Bethel Church.

Mr. Baggott had been subject of an extensive search along Wing Hill Road, about three miles east of Cobden.

He was reported missing Tuesday morning. He had Alzheimer's and was considered legally blind.

He had last been seen between 9:30 and 10 Tuesday morning, walking south on Bethel Church Road. The search for the elderly man began early Tuesday afternoon. Some search dog teams continued the search until about 11 Tuesday night.

The search involved fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter in the air. On the ground, searchers were walking,using all-terrain vehciles and riding horses.

Capt. Scott Harvel of the Union CounthySheriff's Department said several hundred people were involved in the search.
