Shawnee dedicates game to teammate

The Shawnee High School baseball team dedicated the home game it played on Monday in honor of a teammate.

The team dedicated the game, which Shawnee won, to Skyler "Scoots" Law. Shawnee defeated Carrier Mills 9-1 in the matchup.

Skyler sustained fatal injuries in a single-vehicle traffic accident which happened Saturday morning, May 16. The accident claimed two lives.

Illinois State Police at Ullin said the accident happened at 8:34 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 51 a mile north of Villa Ridge.

Reports indicated that Skyler was a passenger in a car driven by Derek Albright, 16, a student at Meridian High School in Mounds.

Skyler was a freshman at Shawnee High School and a member of the baseball team.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shawnee High School. Burial was in Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower.
