Shawnee Hills Arts Council meeting held, activities planned
Shawnee Hills Arts Council met last Saturday afternoon at the Yellow Moon Cafe in Cobden.
Members also toured the anthill gallery in downtown Cobden, where they met with owners Bob Hileman and Linda Austin.
The group’s next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 19. The group welcomes members to serve on an advisory council and various committees.

The arts council has the following events on its calendar:
Sept. 12. Fall classes begin.
Sept. 26. Stroke recovery seminar, 6:30 p.m., Anna Arts Center, with nutrition educator Danielle Taylor and acupuncturist Max Warren. A gourmet dinner will be served. For reservations or more information, contact Linda Kall at 614-8470.

Oct. 10. ColorFest artists market and pavilion, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Washington Street in Anna.

<strong>Writers group</strong>
The Union County Writers Group met last Saturday at the Anna Arts Center.
Joanne Blakley led a discussion based on the book titled “Right to Write” by Julie Cameron.
The book is a collection of writing prompts and activities designed to stimulate creative writing.
The group decided to change its name to Shawnee Hills Writers Group to welcome writers from a wider area.
The group is collecting written works and art works to publish in its anthology, Shawnee Hills Review.
