Sheriff's deputy completes academy program

<p class="p1"> Union County Sheriff's Office Deputy Eric Ralls recently graduated from Southwestern Illinois College, SWIC, in Belleville.</p><p class="p1">Ralls graduated after completing 10 weeks of training at the academy from August until November.</p><p class="p1">Ralls received his graduation certificate from director Van Muschler of SWIC police academy.</p><p class="p1">Graduation ceremonies were held Friday, Nov. 6, at the college.</p><p class="p1">Union County Sheriff Scott Harvel noted that Deputy Ralls achieved high marks while at the academy and was president of his class, session 182. </p><p class="p1">After completion of a state examination, Ralls is a certified peace officer within the State of Illinois. </p><p class="p1">Ralls is a native of Union County. He was hired by the sheriff's office in February.</p><p class="p1">"Deputy Ralls comes to the Sheriff’s Office bringing approximately eight years of experience after serving as a Cape Girardeau,  Missouri, police  officer," Harvel stated. "I would like to commend  Deputy Ralls for a job well done."</p>
