Appleknockers improve to 14-4
The Cobden High School baseball team won three games to close out regular season play last week.
Cobden 8, Johnston City 4: Landon Britt was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and 5 RBIs to lead the visiting Appleknockers to the win Thursday, May 9.
Noah Franklin was 2-for-2 with a double. Dylan Lewey was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Ryan Barr was 1-for-3. Chandler West was 1-for-4.
Alex Remsey and Franklin pitched in the win. Remsey pitched 3 innings and allowed 5 hits to go with a walk and 5 strikeouts. Franklin pitched 4 innings and allowed a hit to go with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.
Cobden 13, Pope County 3: Barr was 3-for-3 to lead host Cobden to the win Tuesday, May 7.
Cody Wieseman was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. West was 2-for-3. Zane Nance was 2-for-4 with an double and an RBI.
Bryce Reynolds was 1-for-1 with a double and 2 RBIs. Britt and Remsey were each 1-for-2.
Franklin was 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Brayden Clark was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Bayden Ditterline had an RBI.
Nance was the winning pitcher, allowing 6 hits to go with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.
Cobden 4, Shawnee 0: West tossed a no-hitter to lead visiting Cobden to the win Monday, May 6. He walked 3 and had 12 strikeouts.
Nick Rose and Braden Freeman pitched for the Redskins. Rose pitched 6 innings and allowed 5 hits to go with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Freeman pitched an inning and allowed 3 hits to go with a walk and no strikeouts.
Franklin was 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead Cobden. Britt was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ditterline was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. West was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Cobden, 14-4, was scheduled to have played the host Redskins yesterday, Wednesday, in the Class 1A regional.
The regional championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
