Cobden softball team plays at Benton Tourney
The Cobden High School softball team went 1-2 at the Benton Tournament Saturday, May 7.
Goreville 19, Cobden 6: Brooke Bailey was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and 3 RBIs to lead the Appleknockers in the final game loss.
Meredith Flamm and Makynzie Peterman were each 1-for-2. Addy Aspen was 1-for-3. Josi Braden was 1-for-4.
Peterman, Flamm and Carley Washer pitched in the loss, combining to scatter 8 hits to go with 13 walks and a strikeout.
Cobden 13, Elverado 1: Braden was 4-for-4 with 4 stolen bases and 2 RBIs to lead Cobden in the second tourney game win.
Sara Millis was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles. Washer was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Keileigh Britt was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Flamm was 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Aspen was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
Flamm was the winning pitcher with a three-hitter to go with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Woodlawn 7, Cobden 3: Braden was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs to lead Cobden in the tourney loss.
Washer and Flamm were each 1-for-3.
Washer pitched in the loss, scattering 6 hits to go with 6 walks and 6 strikeouts.

Cobden 11, Crab Orchard 8: Peterman was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI to lead the host Appleknockers to the win Friday, May 6.
Britt was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and 4 RBIs. Millis was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI and a home run. Megan Rhodes was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Bailey was 1-for-4.
Flamm pitched 2 innings and allowed 3 hits to go with 5 walks and no strikeouts. Washer pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 hits to go with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.
Cobden 6, Century 5: Braden was 3-for-4 with 3 stolen bases to lead visiting Cobden to the South Egyptian Conference win Wednesday, May 4.
Bailey was 2-for-4 with 3 stolen bases. Britt was 1-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and 3 RBIs. Millis was 1-for-3 with 2 stolen bases. Flamm was 1-for-3.
Washer and Flamm pitched in the win. Washer pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed 4 hits to go with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. Flamm pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed a hit to go with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Massac County 14, Cobden 3: Rhodes was 1-for-2 with an RBI to lead host Cobden in the loss Tuesday, May 3.
Braden, Britt and Flamm were each 1-for-2. Washer was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Washer was the losing pitcher, scattering 11 hits to go with 9 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Cobden, 12-11, is scheduled to play Thursday, today, at home against Steeleville.
