State’s attorney sponsors cell phone drive
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds is sponsoring an Emergency 911 cell phone drive during May, June and July.
The program puts the wireless network to work in area communities by turning unused wireless phones into support for victims of domestic violence.
The goal of the Emergency 911 cell phone drive is to collect no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any wireless service provider.
Phones can be dropped off at the Union County State’s Attorney’s office or the Union County Sheriff’s Department. Both offices are in Jonesboro.
Proceeds are used to provide wireless phones to victims, local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness.
Edmonds encourages community members to get involved in helping victims of crime. For additional information about the Emergency 911 cell phone drive and ideas on how to serve victims in the community, contact Amanda Lawrence or Rachel Tally with the Union County Victims Advocate Unit in the state’s attorney’s office at 833-7216.
