Stoner becomes new Anna fire chief

Discussion about work on a Fiscal Year 2011-2012 budget highlighted a brief meeting of the Anna City Council held Tuesday evening.
The city's new fiscal year begins on May 1. The city council plans to adopt a resolution at its next meeting in early March to put a proposed budget on public display.
The council quickly adjourned Tuesday's meeting so a reception could be held to honor new Anna fire chief Mike Stoner.
Stoner recently was named as Anna's new fire chief. He is a longtime firefighter with the Anna Fire Department.
"Mike has some good plans. Mike is going to be a good fire chief," Anna city administrator Steve Guined said Tuesday.
During a ceremony held after the council meeting in the community room at Anna City Hall, Stoner's wife, Angie, formally pinned a fire chief's badge on her husband's uniform.
Family members, friends and coworkers also were on hand for the ceremony.
In related business, the council also named Shaun Pitts as assistant fire chief.
