Supportive living facility good news for area

A groundbreaking ceremony held Friday afternoon in east Anna symbolized an important step in plans for development of an important project.

River to River Residential Corporation hosted the ceremony at the site of its newest supportive living facility, which will be located at 151 Denny Dr., just off Lick Creek Road.

The new facility will serve Union County and the surrounding area, and will provide affordable living to seniors 65 years of age and older.

In addition to providing housing for seniors, the new facility also will bring welcomed construction jobs and permanent jobs to the community.

We are grateful for all of those who have worked so hard to make this project become a reality. We look forward to the opening of the new supportive living community.

Cobden events

Two important events are coming up this weekend in the Cobden area.

The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Fall Festival is planned Saturday and Sunday in downtown Cobden. Visitors to the festival will have an opportunity to learn more about the area's wines and wineries, and the important role they play in our economy. Just outside of Cobden, Darn Hot Peppers plans to host a Pepper Festival.

Both events will, along with their featured attractions, offer music, food, crafts and much more.

Be sure to attend the wine and pepper festivals, and get a true taste of the many flavors of Southern Illinois.
