'They served for us. . .'
The words are so simple, yet so important. "They served for us." The words were displayed on one of the floats featured in the 2010 Veterans Day parade held Thursday, Nov. 11, in Anna. The parade again was sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of Anna. Many people turned out on an ideal autumn afternoon to show their support and appreciation for our veterans.
This particular float was entered in the parade by the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. Many of our friends and neighbors who served in the armed forces now live at the veterans home.
It's important all of us remember the men and women who served for us – and those who continue to serve in these uncertain times.
Our veterans have given so much of themselves to ensure that America remains free and strong. To forget their service would be a national tragedy.
"They served for us." Four simple words which mean so much to our nation. Thank you, once again, to all of our veterans.
