Time to celebrate peaches

Since the early days of Union County’s settlement, peaches have played an important role in the local economy.

This weekend, the peach will be celebrated as a Union County tradition continues in Cobden.

The 2009 Cobden Peach Festival is planned Friday and Saturday in the Union County village. Most of the Peach Festival activities will take place at the Cobden Community Park.

Again this year, the hard-working members of the Cobden Lions Club will be spearheading the effort which goes into the staging of the festival. Lions Club members volunteer many hours of the their time to ensure the success of the event.

We encourage everyone to pay a visit to this weekend’s Peach Festival. Be a part of a Union County tradition. You might even get a chance to bring home some peaches by picking the right number at the always popular Spin & Win game.
