Two arrested in investigation of Dongola murder

Two men have been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the investigation of a death in Dongola last week.

Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds and Sheriff David Livesay said Sunday that Michael S. Ellis, 26, of Elkville has been taken into custody by authorities in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, on a Union County charge of first degree murder in the October death of Gerald Dzickzkowski of 250 Kimber Road in rural Dongola.

Ellis was arrested after he fled from a traffic safety roadblock in Mississippi. He now also faces charged for those actions.

Tommy E. Reams, 27, of Dowell has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of home invasion.

Both Reams and Ellis are being held on $2,000,000 bond. Reams is set for a first appearance before Judge Mark Boie on Monday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. Ellis is being held in Mississippi awaiting extradition.

The charges came after an extensive investigation by the Union County Sheriff's Department, Illinois State Police and Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
